Bobbe, Vangel (Marriage - 2 Sept. 1950)
Mr. and Mrs. Norbert Buss are now on a wedding trip to New York and the Eastern states and after Sept. 11 will be home at 236 Sheridan Avenue, Highwood, Ill., where Mr. Buss is employed with a telephone company and Mrs. Buss operates a beauty shop.
Their marriage took place Saturday evening, Sept. 2, in a candle light ceremony at 7:30 o’clock at the Presbyterian church. The bride, the former Miss Vangel Bobbe, was given in marriage by her father, F. W. Bobbe. The Rev. William Knobloch read the double ring service.
For the occasion the bride wore a ballerina length gown of white lace net over taffeta and a small head piece of net to match the dress. She carried a large bouquet of gardenias and stephanotis.
Mrs. Clifford Nenzel, a friend of the bride, of Bloomer, was matron of honor and Miss Kay Bobbe, niece of the bride, was junior bridesmaid. The matron of honor wore a ballerina length dress of American beauty rose net over taffeta, and the junior bridesmaid wore a full length dress of the same color and carried similar bouquets of red roses and white astors.
Donald Elstrom, friend of the groom of Highland Park, Ill., was the best man. Howard and Darrell Bobbe, brothers of the bride, were ushers.
Mrs. Bobbe chose a dress of forest green for her daughter’s wedding, and wore a corsage of gardenias and red roses. Mrs. E. V. Mechelke, Medford, grand mother of the bride, wore a corsage of white roses with her plum colored dress. Mrs. Herman Buss, Muskegan, Mich., mother of the groom, was unable to attend the wedding.
Nuptial music was played at the piano by Mrs. Ray Franz, Stetsonville, while the guests were assembling and during the ceremony, and accompanied Mrs. Walter Baehr, who sang "Beloved, It Is Morn," and "The Lord’s Prayer."
After the ceremony, a reception for about 75 guests was held at the show room of the Bobbe Implement Co. Low bouquets of garden flowers and candelabra formed the centerpiece at the table.
The bride is a graduate of the Abbotsford High School and was employed as operator at the Abbotsford Beauty Shop for a number of years prior to going to Highwood. The groom is a graduate of the Owen High School.
Friends and relatives at the wedding were from Medford, Madison, Wausau, Dorchester, Curtiss, Amherst, Scandinavia, Waupaca, Nelsonville, Highwood, Ill., and Minneapolis, Minn.
